Tunisia: Tunisiana wins tender for 3G license

After turning it down, last April 20, the Department of Information and Communication Technology approved, Friday, May 4, the financial offer of Tunisiana for the acquisition of a 3G mobile and fixed network license.

The offer equivalent to 205 million Tunisian dinars (MTD) , including 50 MTD for fixed telephony and 155 MTD for the 3G mobile network, was considered sufficient in relation to the international calls of tenders launched by the Ministry in charge for the award of a license to install and operate a public third generation mobile telecommunications network.

The first financial offer made by Tunisiana, which was refused by the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology, was at around 161 MTD, 36 MTD for fixed telephony and 125 MTD for the mobile network.

This offer was considered below the estimates of the ministry which required that Tunisiana renew its application for the 3G license.

The estimated value of the license has been set by the department to 191 MTD.
