Tunisia: UBCI increases its half-year net profit by 18% to 27 million dinars

Union Bancaire pour le Commerce et Industrie (UBCI) has published its interim financial statements as of June 30, 2025.

The bank posted a net profit of 27.4 million dinars, compared to 23.1 million a year earlier, representing an increase of 19.8%.

In the first half of the year, banking operating income stood at 120.0 million dinars, up 17% from the 102.6 million recorded in the same period of 2024.

Internal interest equivalents were the main component at 119.61 million dinars, while commissions amounted to 9.51 million dinars.

Gains on the securities portfolio and financial operations increased significantly, reaching 30.3 million dinars, compared to 11 million a year earlier.

After accounting for banking operating expenses (110.4 million dinars), the Net Banking Income (NBI) reached 117.53 million dinars, compared to 115.34 million in the first half of 2024, marking growth of 14.6%.

Personnel expenses stood at 71.4 million dinars, slightly up from 70.9 million a year earlier, while general operating expenses amounted to 32.7 million dinars, compared to 37.6 million as of June 30, 2024.

The operating result thus increased by 42%, rising from 39.2 million dinars in June 2024 to 55.8 million dinars at the end of June this year.

The bank’s balance sheet highlighted an increase in customer loans, which stood at 3,613 million dinars, compared to 3,088 million dinars in the same period of the 2024 financial year, representing a change of 17%.

This performance is accompanied by rigorous risk management, supported by one of the most effective predictive models in the banking sector, with a non-performing loan (NPL) ratio of 4.51% and a coverage ratio exceeding 79%.

Customer deposits, on the other hand, reached 3,927 million dinars, an increase of nearly 158 million dinars since the start of the year and nearly 312 million since June 2024, representing growth of 8.6%.
