Tunisia: Unemployment down from 18.7% to 15.3%

Unemployment rate in Tunisia declined from 18.7 per cent to 15.3 per cent after the events of 2011 revolution, Hadi Triki, adviser to the Professional Training and Employment Minister, said in a press statement on Saturday.

He said that the number of unemployed people possessing superior diploma certificates has declined for the first time since 2011 to less than 200,000.

Triki said the ministry was working with some 450 associations in the different regions of the country in a bid to curb unemployment.

According to him, more than 70 million Tunisian dinars had been spent during the same period to fund small entrepreneurial projects.
