Tunisia: USAID and ATB allocate $35 million to support Tunisian SMEs

The United States, through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Development Finance Corporation (DFC), has partnered with the Arab Tunisian Bank (ATB) to launch a $35 million loan program to support small businesses across Tunisia.

Ambassador Donald Blome joined ATB CEO Ahmed Rjiba to launch the partnership, which will expand and accelerate commercial lending to SMEs.

“With a focus on underserved areas, this initiative will facilitate $35 million in loans from ATB to small businesses across Tunisia at a time when the country is facing difficult economic conditions,” the US ambassador was quoted as saying in an embassy statement.

He added that “this partnership showcases how the U.S. government is able to mobilize private capital resources for the direct benefit of small businesses and demonstrates our strong commitment to the growth and success of Tunisia’s private sector.”
