The total amount of investments reported in all economic sectors in January 2024 amounted to TND 705.8 million, a significant increase of 68.9% compared with the same period in 2023, the Tunisia Investment Authority (TIA) said in its monthly statistical bulletin published on Thursday.
These investments led to the creation of 8,792 job opportunities, an increase of 9.5% compared with January 2023, demonstrating the positive dynamics of reported investments.
In the first month of 2024, the amount of investments from start-up activities far exceeded that of expansion projects, amounting to TND 663.6 million, or 94% of the total reported investments.
Similarly, the number of potential jobs created by new projects far exceeded those created by expansions, reaching 8,422, or 96% of new jobs created.
The renewable energy sector ranked first in terms of investments declared in the first month of 2024, with an investment volume of TND 273.9 million. The projects reported to the TIA concern two types of renewable energy: wind energy and photovoltaic energy.
The industrial sector ranks second in terms of declared investments, with 22% of the total. At the same time, it accounts for 46% of the jobs created, thus playing a leading role in this area.
Investments in the agricultural sector reached a considerable volume of TND 118 million, i.e. 17% of the reported investments, and led to the creation of 840 jobs.
On the other hand, projects of national interest account for a significant share, representing 39% of the total volume of investments reported in the first month of 2024. This represents a significant cumulative amount of €273.9 million.
Of the investments reported in the month of January 2024, 43% involve foreign participation, with an investment volume of TND 302.6 million and the creation of 2119 jobs, i.e. 24% of the jobs to be created.
