Tunisia:household debt amounts to 19.5 billion dinars

The amount of household debts to Tunisian banks reached 19.5 billion dinars, according to the National Consumer Institute (INC).

INC President Tarek Ben Jazia said 8.6 billion dinars of the total volume of these liabilities relate to property loans while 2.5 billion dinars pertain to consumption.

In an interview with African Manager, the official noted that these figures do not reflect the reality of debt of Tunisian families.

Ben Jazia has also added that the debt ratio at the national level has increased by 17% in recent years.
