Tunisian National Security Council decides to extend total lockdown

The National Security Council, held Friday at the Carthage Palace, decided to extend the total lockdown for a period to be defined by the government, says a statement of the presidency of the Republic.

Chaired by President Kais Said, the council discussed the possibility of revising the curfew schedules during the month of Ramadan.

The necessary measures for the school and university year and national competitions were also discussed at this meeting. These measures will be announced by the line ministries, the statement said.

Besides, the council called on the Ministry of Social Affairs to ensure the delivery of social assistance as soon as possible.

It also recommended continuing repatriation operations for Tunisians stranded abroad.

The council also stressed the need to give proposals of the vision of the government team on the measures to be taken to gradually lift the curfew and total lockdown.
