Nigeria has been hit by the scarcity of aviation fuel, called Jet A-1, triggering flight delays in some of the nation’s airports, PANA has learnt from airport officials in the economic capital city of Lagos.
The scarcity, which started two days ago, has particularly hit the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in the capital city of Abuja, forcing some airlines to source the product from the Aminu Kano International Airport in the northern city of Kano.
The reason for the shortage is yet unknown, but airline operators have appealed to fuel marketers to restore normalcy as soon as possible.
PANA reports that the price of the product has remained at 160 (US$0.988) to 180 Naira (US$1.111) per litre, despite the scarcity.
