The Pan-African bank, Ecobank, has opened a subsidiary in South Sudan, according to a statement issued on Friday in the Togolese capital, Lomé.
The statement said the bank would help the new African country “to meet the challenges for its development”. Ecobank said operations began in the country on 10 July.
South Sudan becomes the 34th African country where Ecobank, a Pan-African financial institution set up in the Togolese capital 25 years ago, operates.
