Taxation to boost air traffic!!

According to well-informed source at the Office for Civil Aviation and Airports (OACA), three Tunisian airports out of 7 will take advantage of an extension of the exemption of charges for airports and air navigation services for the next three years (2009-2011). These airports are those of Tozeur-Nefta, Ksar-Gafsa and Tabarka.

This measure, which involves both domestic and foreign companies, concerns the exemption of fees related to safety, landing, parking, boarding and other airport services (using  jet way and marking ). The total amount of the fees ranges from 1000 to 2000 dinars according to companies and destinations.
According to the same source, this measure aims to encourage airlines to schedule flights or charters to and from these three airports, with the aim of promoting air traffic.

However, this benefit is not noticeable as far as the airline ticket for a single travelle is concerned. It is quite beneficial for companies that operate charter flights, according to our source.
