Citrus fruit exports up to May 2 totaled 8,493 tons worth 29.4 million dinars, compared with 7,614 tons worth 25.5 million dinars in the previous season, according to the Inter-professional Fruit Grouping (GiFruits).
This represents a consecutive increase of 11.5% in volume and 15.2% in value.
Maltese oranges accounted for around 96% of total citrus exports, followed by clementines with 1.7%.
In terms of geographical distribution, the French market accounted for the largest share of citrus fruit exports with more than 90%, followed by the Libyan market with 7.3% and the Gulf markets with 2%.
