Tunisia: ATCT reports 40.8% rise in Tunisians hired abroad in 2018

The Tunisian Agency for Technical Cooperation (ATCT) has recorded a 40.8% increase in the hiring of Tunisians abroad in 2018, i.e. 2985 recruited against 2,120 in 2017, it said in a statement Monday.

The recruitment affected the field of education and teaching with 1,601 guest workers, which topped the hiring accounting for the 54% of the recruitment made, followed by the

health sector with 543 health executives, administration with 324 recruited and engineering with 297 guest workers.

According to the same source, Saudi Arabia is in first position in the hiring of Tunisian skills with 836 guest workers, followed by the United Arab Emirates with 432 recruited and Qatar with 414 recruited.

Middle East countries are the first beneficiaries with 2,003 recruited, i.e. 67%, then comes the European countries with 469 guest workers topped by France with 324 hires, then Germany with 75 recruited followed by countries of America with 228 recruited, including Canada with 196 recruited.

According to the same source, the Agency had conducted 16 training sessions and study visits in 2018 compared to 8 in 2017.

The total number of Tunisian guest workers abroad amounts to 18,735 as at December 31, 2018
