Tunisia: BCT reports net profit of TND 715.2 million, 56.8% of which for the State

The financial statements of the Central Bank of Tunisia for the financial year 2022 show a net balance sheet total of TND 44,617,755 thousand, positive equity of TND 1,558,166 thousand, including a profit for the year of TND 715,226 thousand.

At its meeting on March 22, 2023, the Bank’s Board of Directors approved the distribution of the result for the 2022 financial year into a special reserve of TND 303.5 million, TND 5 million for the Bank’s social fund and TND 406.726 million dinars as a share of profits for the State. The Treasury will thus have pocketed 56.866% of BCT’s profits, which are not subject to corporate tax.

According to the balance sheet, the sum of TND 303.5 million allocated to the special reserve to strengthen the Bank’s capital is made up of TND 203.5 million to finance the investment budget and TND 100 million, as part of the gradual creation of reserves to cope with the effects of the planned changeover to IFRS standards.
