French group “BIC” announced the closure of its plant in Boulogne and the gradual relocation of its production to the nearby site of Samer in France.
Part of the ink activity and manufacture of crayons are transferred to Tunisia, reports French website “la voix du nord”, citing Benoît Marotte, General Manager Stationery at BIC Group.
“In Tunisia, we send products in small volumes. As we are in the coloring universe, these are volumes divided by 12, 18 or 24 colors. To be competitive in France today, we must have products with large volumes,” he said.
According to the website “Highlights,” BIC plans to settle in El Azib, in governorate of Bizerte.
A land was acquired by the group in 2012 with an area of nearly 3 hectares for a total investment of EUR 12 million, over the medium term, the source said.
