Tunisia buys soft wheat, durum and feed barley in tender, traders say

Tunisia’s state grains agency is believed to have purchased about 125,000 metric tons of soft wheat, about 100,000 tons of durum and around 125,000 tons of animal feed barley in an international tender for the same volume on Thursday, European traders were quoted as saying by Reuters.

All the purchases were made per ton cost and freight included (c&f).

The soft wheat purchase involved five 25,000-ton consignments, bought from Soufflet at $257.14 a ton, Finagrit at $256.16 a ton, Buildcom at $256.27, Buildcom at $255.77 and Dreyfus at $257.02 a ton.

The durum purchase involved four 25,000 ton consignments, one bought from Casillo at $319.68 a ton and three from Amber at $317.99, $319.79 and $321.29 per ton.

The barley was all bought at $269.12 a ton c&f from trading house Bunge, they said.

Reports reflect assessments from traders and further estimates of prices and volumes are still possible later.

Shipment of all the grains is sought in 2026.

The wheat is sought in five 25,000 ton consignments for shipment between January 15 and March 5, depending on origin supplied.

The durum is sought in four 25,000 ton consignments for shipment between January 5 and February 20, also depending on origin supplied.

The barley is sought in five 25,000 ton consignments for shipment between January 10 and March 20, depending on origin. In its last reported wheat tender on November 13, Tunisia’s state grains agency is believed to have purchased about 125,000 metric tons of soft wheat and about 100,000 tons of durum.
