Tunisia: CDC and IGPPP sign MoU on initiation of 5 PPP projects

A memorandum of understanding to implement the project to support the preparation of five public / private partnership (PPP) projects was signed Thursday in Tunis, by the Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations (CDC) and the General Authority of Public Private Partnership (IGPPP).

The MoU, signed by Acting Director General of the CDC Nejia GHARBI and President of the General Authority of Public Private Partnership (IGPPP), will allow the implementation of the project to support the preparation of PPP projects through a seed funding line, subject of the memorandum of understanding, September 18, 2018, which aims to define a framework for cooperation in the field of promotion of Public Private Partnership.

The seed line aims to implement the support fund for public/private partnerships that will be operational in 2023.This fund will also finance studies and support and mentoring services that will be provided by experts and consulting firms, in the field of partnership between the public and private sector, the CDC said in a statement.

This fund, which was created under Article 13 of the Finance Act 2022, aims to support and develop partnership projects between public structures and enterprises and the private sector.

It is financed through an initial contribution from the Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations (CDC) and contributions and donations from other international financial institutions that will be earmarked for it under the PPP development plans.

According to the CDC, this agreement aims to promote the establishment of an environment conducive to the involvement of the private sector in the development of infrastructure in order to achieve development objectives.

It therefore establishes a support framework for public enterprises and organisations for the preparation of infrastructure projects likely to attract public and private financial resources.
