The exchange rate of the Tunisian dinar appreciated by 4.14% against the dollar on
May 28.
According to the latest monetary and financial indicators published on Friday by the Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT), one dollar is currently worth 2.98 dinars, compared with TND 3.11 on the same date last year.
Similarly, the value of the dinar improved by 0.52% against the euro, with 1 euro trading at TND 3.36, compared with TND 3.39 on May 28, 2024.
These exchange rate indicators reflect the stability of major balances in the external sector, despite a temporary decline in the country’s foreign exchange reserves.
These currently stand at 22.7 billion dinars (equivalent to 98 days of imports), compared with 22.6 billion dinars (equivalent to 103 days of imports) at the end of May last year.
The issuing bank’s data also showed that the cost of servicing external debt had reached 7 billion dinars by May 20, 2025, exceeding tourism receipts and workers remittances, estimated at 5.4 billion dinars on the same date, compared with 4.9 billion dinars during the same period in 2024.
