Tunisia’s exports to Brazil surge to 137 million dinars in 2024 following Trade Incentives

Tunisian exports to Brazil reached 137 million dinars (MD), approximately $71 million, in 2024, driven by Brazilian government incentives such as duty exemptions on food products, including extra virgin olive oil, announced Mourad Ben Hassine, Director General of the Export Promotion Center (CEPEX). 

Speaking at the Tunisian-Brazilian Business Forum organized by UTICA in Tunis on Thursday, he underlined that Tunisia is now Brazil’s fifth-largest olive oil supplier, with exports of the product surging 119% over the past two years.

 Shipments also include dates, phosphates and derivatives, chemicals, electrical equipment, and ready-to-wear garments. 

Brazil is Tunisia’s leading export market in the South American Common Market (MERCOSUR), with bilateral trade exceeding 1.5 billion dinars in 2024. 

Ben Hassine emphasized restarting negotiations for a Tunisia-MERCOSUR FTA to boost bilateral investments. 

Exports account for 46% of Tunisia’s GDP, with access to over 80 foreign markets and 1.5+ billion consumers. 

Tunisian and Brazilian businesses held direct talks at the Tunisia-Brazil Businesd Forum (organized by UTICA) to explore partnerships in aAgribusiness ans food processing, renewable energy, digital services and pharmaceuticals.
