Tunisia: everything went down for Carthage Cement in 2017, except debt

The CARTHAGE CEMENT company, which has nevertheless preserved its market share and its leading position on the local market, was not spared in 2017 by the decline in the activity of the cement industry in Tunisia and in particular by the sharp fall of Tunisian exports to Algeria by 79% compared to 2016.

Thus, its overall turnover recorded a decrease of 12% last year to stand at 172.9 MD against 196.1 million a year earlier.

This decline is due to a 2% decrease in revenue on the local market to 125.2 MD and the 80% drop in exports to 4.44 million.

The investments made in 2017 decreased by 40% to 12.26 MD against 20.54 million in 2016.

As for the overall indebtedness of the company, it increased by 2% compared to 2016 to 525 MD.
