Remittances from Tunisian expatriates continued to rise during the first two months of the current year.
Indeed, remittances posted a sharp increase of 28% in January and February, compared to the same period last year.
These remittances amounted to nearly 1.2 billion dinars, up 255 million dinars. These funds are four times higher than the tourism revenues generated by Tunisia during the first two months of the year (327 million dinars).
In 2021, expat remittances reached a record of 7.5 billion dinars after increasing by 28% compared to 2020, which itself was considered an exceptional year where remittances increased by 11% in a pandemic context.
