Remittances by Tunisians living abroad reached 1,810 million dinars at the end of the first quarter of the current year, according to data from the Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT).
This represents an increase of 72 million dinars on the 1,738 million dinars recorded last year.
Expressed in euros, expat remittances at the end of March totaled 535 million euros (average monthly rate over the first three months of the year: 1 dinar = 3.3792 euros).
It should be noted that the remittances by the Tunisian diaspora represented almost 1.5 times the country’s tourism revenues in the first quarter of the current year.
