The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has maintained its growth projections for the Tunisian economy at 1.3% in 2023, compared with 2.5% in 2022, and expects it to reach 1.9% in 2024.

Tunisia’s inflation will be 9.4% in 2023, up from 8.3% in 2022, and is expected to reach 9.8% in 2024, according to the IMF’s “World Economic Outlook October 2023: Navigating Global Divergences,” presented in Marrakech, Morocco, on Tuesday.

The IMF also said that Tunisia’s current account balance is expected to reach 5.8% in 2023 and 5.4% in 2024, down from 8.6% in 2022.

Tunisia’s trade deficit narrowed to TND 12,194.7 million in the first eight months, compared with TND 16,913.7 million in 2022, according to data published in September by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).
