Tunisia: nearly 1.4 billion dinars of losses in tourism receipts since start of year

Tunisia’s tourism revenues continue to fall as a result of the repercussions of the coronavirus pandemic on the tourism sector worldwide.

According to the data of the Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT), the equivalent value in dinars of these receipts has dropped by nearly 1.4 billion dinars as of July 20, 2020, compared to the same date last year, down 55%.

Indeed, the amount of cumulative tourism receipts amounts to 1.16 billion dinars, compared to 2.55 billion last July 20.

Over the whole year 2019, Tunisia’s tourist receipts amounted to 5.6 billion dinars, that is to say the equivalent of €1.7 billion.
