The number of foreign tourists visiting Tunisia increased by 24 percent from January to October 10 this year, according to official figures released on Tuesday in Tunis.
5.55 million foreign tourists visited Tunisia during this period compared to 4.49 million in the same period last year, according to data sent to Reuters.
European tourist flows grew 18 per cent to 1,461,000 while those of Algerians jumped 44 per cent to 1,856,000.
It is expected that the number of foreign tourists will peak at 6.5 million this year, up 30 per cent from 2016, reflecting the improvement in the security situation in the country and the influx of new markets such as those of Algeria and Russia.
