Tunisia: olive oil exports down 47% at end of February to 288 million dinars

According to Tunisia’s external trade figures, released on Friday, March 8, 2019 by the National Institute of Statistics (INS), the value of Tunisia’s exports of olive oil fell by 47% at the end of February 2019 to to 288.6 million dinars against 544.8 million in the first two months of 2018.

In fact, sales of olive oil declined by 38% during the month of January to 145.5 million dinars, against 236.2 million in January 2018.

Exports of olive oil exploded during the last season posting a rise of 150% between November 1, 2017 and April 30, 2018.

In total, 134,403 tons of “green gold” were exported , which is equivalent to revenues of 1.35 billion dinars over this period.

For the whole year 2018, revenues from exports of olive oil reached 2.12 billion dinars against 1 billion in 2017.
