Tunisia: Ooredoo tests first 4G mobile technology

Mobile operator Ooredoo began on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 testing the 4G mobile network technology in Tunisia.

Voted best operator in Greater Tunis in terms of internet speed available on its 3G network, Ooredoo continues to gain momentum by starting the navigation tests on a fourth generation network (LTE).

Continuing its initiative to democratize 4G, Ooredoo also has pilot networks deployed on two major cities in Tunisia. In theory, 4G should help exceed a 100Mb browsing speed.

The first test conducted today showed a download speed of 69 Mb / s. Note that the commercialization of 4G will start in Tunisia from the first half of 2016.

Ken Campbell, CEO, Youssef Al Masri CCO and Hatem Mestiri CTO of Ooredoo welcomed this great success.

“Ooredoo is the first mobile operator to test 4G mobile technology in Tunisia. This additional record confirms the position of Ooredoo as leader on the Tunisian telecommunications market.

Mobile 4G will allow our subscribers to enjoy high-speed mobile connection, “announced Hatem Mestiri.
