Tunisia: tax revenue reaches 22.8 billion dinars until end August 2022

Revenues collected from taxes are estimated at 22.8 billion dinars, in the form of direct and indirect tax. Non-tax revenues, on the other hand, are estimated at 1.2 billion dinars, according to a document of the Finance Ministry on the provisional results of the execution of the state budget at the end of August 2022.

The overall tax burden provided for in the 2022 Finance Law is about 25.4% (24.6% excluding oil).

Income tax accounts for the lion’s share of direct taxes, with 6.8 billion dinars out of 8.9 billion dinars. Taxes on salaries rose to 4.7 billion dinars, while corporate taxes amount to 2 billion dinars.

Taxes on the activity of oil companies collected by the State are estimated at 0.472 billion dinars and 1.5 billion dinars in terms of taxes on non-oil companies.

VAT was the largest source of indirect taxes, estimated at 13.9 billion dinars at the end of August 2022, providing nearly 6.6 billion dinars, followed by consumption costs of about 2.3 billion dinars, then customs tariffs of 1.17 billion dinars.

The Finance Ministry has forecast a contribution of 16.6 billion dinars for the domestic regime and 6.1 billion dinars for the customs regime in the form of tax revenue to the state budget by the end of August 2022.

The non-tax revenue collected at the end of August 2022 is made up of 0.322 billion dinars in the form of taxes on the transit of Algerian gas and 0.496 billion dinars in the form of contribution revenues, as well as donations estimated at 0.936 billion dinars and other financial resources.
