Tunisia: Tax revenues exceed 33 billion dinars as of end September

The tax revenues of the Tunisian state recorded a notable increase at the end of the first nine months of the current year.

According to the provisional budget execution results finalized at the end of September, tax receipts reached 33.4 billion dinars, representing an increase of 7.6% compared to the same period in 2024.

This amount is divided between 25.4 billion dinars from the domestic regime and 8 billion dinars from the customs regime.

Direct taxes totaled 14.7 billion dinars, an increase of 9.8%.

Income taxes increased by 5.4%, reaching 9.7 billion dinars, of which 6.5 billion came from payroll taxes, showing a slight increase (+0.9%).

Revenues from corporate taxes showed a mixed trend: they amounted to 4.9 billion dinars, with an overall increase of 19.8%.

This growth is driven by the surge in taxes from non-oil companies, which jumped by 34% to 4.2 billion dinars, while taxes from oil companies fell by 28.7%, limited to 664 million dinars.

Indirect taxes reached 18.7 billion dinars, marking an increase of 5.9%.

This change is mainly explained by:

–   a 13.7% increase in customs duties, which total 1.6 billion dinars;

–   a 4.8% growth in VAT, which now stands at 8.6 billion dinars;

–   a similar increase (+4.8%) in consumption duties, which settled at 3.1 billion dinars.

The Finance Law for the 2025 fiscal year projects tax revenues of 45.2 billion dinars, an increase of 8.4% compared to 2024 and 17% compared to 2022.

These results will be crucial for supporting the state’s budgetary balances in an economic context still marked by financing constraints.
