Tunisia’s external trade rose to 37.5 billion TD at the end of July 2012, against 34.2 billion TD in July 2011, i.e. up 9.8%, Special Adviser to the Minister of Trade and Handicrafts Lotfi Khedhir said Friday.
Exports reached a value of 15.6 billion TD, against 21.9 billion TD in imports, with imports continuing to grow faster than exports, with respective rates of 14.6% and 3.7% compared to the same period of 2011.
Following the increase of exchanges, the trade deficit widened, reaching 2,230.2 MTD.
The coverage of imports by exports reached 71.0%, resulting in slight stability since the beginning of this year against 78.2% at the end of July 2011.
