Tunisia: UIB and PROPARCO privileged partners of SMEs

The “Union Internationale de Banques” (UIB) is stepping up its actions to support its customer SMEs by organizing in partnership with PROPARCO the first days of information and financial and commercial training for small and medium-sized enterprises: “The

SME Days by UIB”.

Beyond its natural role as a provider of financial services and financing solutions, the UIB

intends to amplify its support and its contribution of expertise and advice to SME managers and entrepreneurs in all regions.

It is within this framework that the UIB organized the first SME Day by UIB on Wednesday November 1, 2017 in Bizerte in the presence of Mr. Kamel Belkahia, President of the Bizerte Technology Center, Mr. Khaled Ben Gharbia, Regional President of CONECT, Mr. Cherif Lachnani, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Northwest Tunisia, Mrs. Houda Chakroun, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Northeast Tunisia, Mr. Souheil Arfaoui, Regional Director of the Agency for the Promotion of Industry and Innovation of Bizerte and Mr. Ghazi El Biche, Vice-President of the European Investors Association and DG of Van Laack Tunisia.

The day allowed to share with fifty small and medium-sized companies from the governorates of Kef, Bizerte, Beja, Jendouba and Siliana a sum of information and analyzes related to the Tunisian regulatory framework, support mechanisms for SMEs, fundamentals of finance and management as well as the strengthening of the commercial capabilities of businesses.

For these companies, it was also an opportunity for meetings and exchanges with the various speakers and guests, thus enabling them to expand their professional network and to establish useful contacts for future cooperation and business relations.

A forthcoming edition of the SME by UIB days is planned in Zarzis on November 23, 2017. A

dozens of other SME-focused events will be organized in 2018 to promote Tunisian regional development.

By organizing these days of training and networking, the UIB, wishing to concretize its corporate responsibility approach in all its, economic, social and environmental dimensions,

seeks to help Tunisian SMEs to put all the chances of success on their side in a

complex environment that requires permanent adaptations.
