Faced with the deteriorating situation marked by the resurgence of protests in several regions, Tawfik Laaribi representative of the Tunisian Union of Industry, Trade and Handicrafts (UTICA), considers that the solution remains in the hands of the government, namely the Ministry of Finance to reconsider its positions and clarify its decisions.
Reacting to the recent position of the Ministry of Finance Ilyes Fakhfakh indicating that there is no need to reconsider taxes, Tawfik Laaribi said the employers’ organization refuses this kind of decisions that could weigh on small manufacturers and farmers.
In a statement to Africanmanager, he said he expressed his reservations about the new taxes imposed on farmers and passenger cars.
He recalled that the UTICA has made several recommendations to the Ministry of Finance, regarding the Finance Act 2014, but unfortunately its suggestions were not taken into account.
