Tunisia: value of fruit exports down 35%

Fruit exports declined by 46% in volume to 23,867 tons and 35% in value to 65.4 billion dinars, until October 26, 2020, according to data from the Interprofessional Fruit Grouping (Gifruits) released Tuesday.

The decline in the quantities of exported fruit is mainly due to the drop in exports to the country’s top customers, namely Libya (-53%, to 14,746 tons), Italy (-28%, to 4,276 tons) and France (-55%, to 1316 tons).

In terms of varieties, the decrease in exports was noted, especially in watermelon (-49%), peach (-41%), pomegranate (-46%), grape (-51%), plum (-45%) and apricot (-37%).
