The number of strikes in the public sector was down 15% in the first 5 months of 2015 while the working days lost because of these movements exceeded 100%, compared to the same period in 2014.
Minister of Social Affairs, Ahmed Ammar Younbai said at a press conference Tuesday that the strikes have affected 23 companies.
Payment of salaries and other financial benefits are high on the claims (48%) while improving working conditions came second (35%). Improving labor relations came third (14%) followed by solidarity of workers (3%).
The services and outsourcing sector was the most affected by strikes during the first 5 months (48%), followed by the transportation sector (31%), agriculture (14%) and mining (7%).
