Tunisia’s bill for gas purchases from Sonatrach could reach 4.5 billion dinars ($1.5 billion) this year, while the bill for domestic and foreign consumption could reach $2.6 billion with the sharp rise in prices, an energy ministry official told Reuters on Thursday.
The director of energy transition at the ministry, Belhassen Chiboub, added that Tunisia and Algeria are bound by a differential price agreement, but if the current world price is adopted, the bill due to Algeria would rise from 3 billion dinars expected this year to 4.5 billion.
