World Bank, AfDB to review their portfolios in Togo

The World Bank (WB) and the African Development Bank (AfDB) will begin a two-day joint review of their work in Togo from Friday, according to official sources in the capital, Lomé.

The target for the joint review, according to WB and AfDB, is to “make detailed review of the stage of implementation of projects financed by the two institutions”.

The review will focus on the institutional aspects, the implementation of projects and key issues linked to contracts, financial management, the monitoring-evaluation system and the management of socio-economic issues and the processes to identify the difficulties faced by the projects.

An action plan will be proposed and discussed for better collaboration between AfDB, WB and the government.

According to the institutions, their actions will help attain the goals of the projects, reduce the deadlines for the implementation of projects, improve the payment rates and strengthen the capacities of the project units in the domains of contracts, financial management, monitoring-evaluation and issues on safeguarding the socio-environment.

A monitoring committee will be set up to implement recommendations.
