Tunisia: French SMEs determined to stay

“French companies established in Tunisia are determined to stay and boost their business, “said Jean Francois Roubaud, President of the General Confederation of Small and Medium Enterprises in France (CGPME).

After his meeting, Wednesday, with Interim Prime Minister Hamadi Jebali, the French official argued that “it is not because there are some protesters in a country that investment is blocked,” adding that” we need to attract other French companies to Tunisia.”

Mr. Roubaud told TAP that his visit to Tunisia aims to develop business (B to B) relations between Tunisian and French SMEs, promote the exchange of visits between Tunisian companies and their French counterparts and establish a win-win partnership between the two countries.

He said that Tunisia, given its strategic location, is for France a gateway to Mediterranean markets, adding: “Tunisia is without doubt the most open country in the region and where an extraordinary democracy is being shaped.”

Mr. Roubaud stressed the desirability of developing partnership between Tunisian and French SMEs, particularly in the ICT sectors, mechanical and electronic industries, innovation and food industry.

“Planète PME 2012,” an annual meeting of SME economy which will be held June 28, 2012, in Paris, will be an opportunity for Tunisian companies and their French counterparts, to identify business and investment opportunities available for both countries, he said.
