Tunisia: More than TND 1.2 billion of investments reported at end February 20

Investments reported to the TIA (Tunisia Investment Authority) totaled 1,249 million dinars, during the first two months of 2024, contributing to the creation of 16,251 jobs in various business sectors.

This represents a significant increase of 34.6% in investments and 15% in job creation compared to the same period in 2023, reflecting a positive trend in reported investments.

Start-up investments significantly outnumbered expansion investments, reaching 1,038 million dinars or 83% of the total reported investments.

The number of jobs to be created as a result of start-ups far exceeded that of expansions, totaling 13,767 jobs, or 85% of the new jobs created.

The industrial sector leads in terms of declared investments, accounting for a substantial 31% of total declared investments. It also plays a dominant role in job creation, accounting for 42%.

Investments in the agricultural sector are in second place, with a significant volume of 325.6 million dinars, or 26% of the reported investments, facilitating the creation of 2,135 jobs, or 13% of the declared jobs.

Renewable energies are gaining in importance and are in third place thanks to the structuring of investments: as one of the priority sectors, the sector recorded an investment volume of 273.9 million dinars in the first two months of 2024, i.e. 22% of the reported investments.

These projects declared to the TIA concern two types of renewable energy, depending on the source, namely wind energy and photovoltaic energy.

In terms of type of project, projects of national interest (amount of investment ≥ 50 million dinars or jobs ≥ 500) occupy a significant share, representing 29% of the total volume of investments declared in the first two months of 2024. This represents a significant cumulative amount of 368.4 million dinars.

In addition, 35% of the investments declared up to February 2024 involve foreign participation for an investment volume of 439.2 million dinars, which will enable the creation of 2,985 jobs, i.e. 22% of the jobs to be created.
