Tunisia: outstanding amount of STTBs soars by nearly 60% at end February

The outstanding amount of Short-Term Treasury Bills (STBs) stood at 3,873 million dinars, at the end of last February, against 2,457 million at the same date in 2021, up 1,415 million dinars (+58%).

This sharp increase reflects the pressure exerted on the state budget in the absence of external financing, estimated at more than 12 billion dinars for the entire 2022 fiscal year.

As for the domestic financing needs, they are expected to amount to more than 7 billion dinars, according to the 2022 finance law.

In addition, the outstanding assimilated treasury bills increased by 948 million dinars over the first two months of the current year, to 16,871 million dinars, compared to 15,923 million dinars on February 28, 2021.
