Tunisia: reported investment in services down 54.7% in January 2023

Investment reported in service activities declined by 54.7% to 58.6 million dinars (MD) in January 2023, the Agency for the Promotion of Industry and Innovation (APII) said Wednesday.

The number of reported projects has risen by 14.7%, to 919 projects. These projects are likely to generate 3,272 new jobs (+33.3% compared to January 2022), according to the APII, which reports a decrease of investment reported in the activities of fully exportable services by 35.3%, with an amount of 5.5 MD.

Reported projects directed to the local market have fallen, according to the same source, from 121 MD, in January 2022, to 53 MD, in January 2023, down 56%.

As for reported investment with foreign participation in the service activities in January 2023, they represent only 13% of the total of the reported investment and an amount of 7.5 MD.

The number of projects with foreign participation increased by 8.7% to 112 projects during January 2023.
