The Tunisian dinar appreciated against the US dollar between 2022 and 2023 (as of 31 October). The US currency now trades at 3.169 Tunisian dinars (TND), compared with TND 3.286 on the same date last year, according to statistics published on Thursday by the Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT).
Similarly, the value of the dinar has improved against the Japanese yen, with 1,000 yen trading at TND 20.993 in recent days, compared with TND 21.704 at the end of October 2022.
On the other hand, the local currency has depreciated against the euro, with one euro currently worth 3.365 dinars, compared with 3.277 dinars a year earlier, reversing the trend that prevailed in September 2023.
In fact, according to a note recently published by the Tunisian Institute for Competitiveness and Competitive Studies (ITCEQ), the dinar’s exchange rate against the euro was positive in September 2023 (1 euro is worth TND 3.351), compared with August 2023 (1 euro is worth TND 3.379).
On the other hand, the ITCEQ economic bulletin reported a depreciation of the dinar against the US dollar, with the value of one dollar falling from TND 3.108 in August 2023 to TND 3.182 in September 2023.
