Tunisia: trade deficit up 80.5%

Tunisia’s trade deficit posted an increase of 80.5% to stand at -1009.3 MTD last January compared with -559,3 MTD in January last year.

The coverage rate has fell 15.6% from 75.6% in January 2011 to 63.8% in the same period this year.

Indeed, Tunisia’s imports rose by 21,6% to stand at 2785.6 million dinars last January compared with 2290.5 MTD in the same period last year, reports the website of the National Statistics Institute.

As to exports, they recorded a slight rise of 2.6%, from 1731.2 million dinars in January 2011 to 1776.3 million dinars in January 2012.
