The United States has not changed its position on its guarantee allowing Tunisia to obtain an international loan worth $ 500 million (more than 1 billion dinars), Finance Minister Slim Chaker said on Thursday in Tunis.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the signing of agreements between Customs and Tunisian industrial companies, he stressed that the US Administration has notified Tunisia if its decision to maintain the guarantee allowing it to go out on the international market.
Tunisia has repeatedly borrowed from the international markets after 2011 to mobilize financial resources for the budget, requesting, in particular, US and Japanese guarantees after the downward revision of its sovereign rating by several rating agencies, due to the deteriorating economic and security situation in the country.
