Tunisia: UTICA ”deeply concerned” by situation in Libya

The Tunisian Confederation of Industry, Commerce and Handicrafts (UTICA) has expressed its deep concern at the deteriorating security situation in Libya and the aggravation of armed clashes causing serious human and material losses.

In a statement, the employers’ organization also expressed its wish that the Libyans would succeed, through dialogue, to overcome their differences in order to ensure the return of calm and stability in Libya and maintain its unity.

UTICA also called on the Tunisian government to strengthen coordination with the Libyan official authorities to safeguard the interests of Tunisian economic companies operating in Libya and their staff and to take the necessary measures to ensure their safe return.

Valuing the constant and significant development of the historical relations between Libya and Tunisia, which have strengthened even more in recent years, UTICA affirms the commitment of Tunisian companies to strengthen their cooperation and partnership with their Libyan counterparts especially in the current difficult circumstances.

Moreover, UTICA calls on companies operating in Libya to contact the Tunisian-Libyan Chamber of Commerce for more information in this framework.
