Mauritius welcomed 416,657 tourists between January and May 2013, against 412,528 tourists during the same period last year, representing an increase of 1 per cent, the Bureau of Statistics said in its latest bulletin.
Most tourists, 241,311, came from Europe, with France leading with 116,098 tourists.
A total of 110,465 tourists arrived from Africa and the Indian Ocean during the last five months, representing a 6.1 per cent increase.
Tourists from Asia, however, have increased by 30.6 per cent, with 51,460 tourists.
Mauritian authorities expect to receive a total of just less than one million tourists in 2013.
