Tunisia’s date exports generated record revenues estimated at 871.3 million dinars (MD) in the 2018 – 2019 season, up more than 13% over the past season.
Tunisia has exported more than 120 thousand tons of this flagship product of Tunisian agriculture from early October 2018 until September 30, 2019.
The national production of dates reached 288 thousand tons, including 228 thousand tons of the popular variety “Deglet Nour”, according to the Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries.
The quantities of organic dates exported reached 9,200 tons this season, worth 78 MD.
The Tunisian date is exported to 73 destinations, including Morocco (3 thousand tons of dates), the largest import market followed by Spain with 9,500 tons
